Sophie the Giraffe Teething Toy: the Teether that Mesmerizes Moms and Babies Alike

Oh, my little Sophie the Giraffe teething toy, how I love you.  Ahem, I mean, how my teething baby loves you. 

Take a look at her.  This little gem of a toy is Sophie and I, along with thousands of other moms, have a soft spot for her in my heart.  Anyone with a teething baby knows that finding the right bit of goodness for your baby to gnaw on can save hours of whimpering and bring comfort to your child.  The Sophie the Giraffe teether has become just that toy for many babies, garnering hundreds of positive online reviews on Amazon.com as parents leave commentary supporting their baby’s relief. 

My fondness for Sophie the Giraffe was immediate – I saw her, and immediately grinned.  Sophie is a very simple baby toy – she is a baby teether – and has much competition on the market from less-expensive teethers.  Sophie the Giraffe Teether, however, has created quite a following and is consistently one of the top-selling and wished-for toys on Amazon.com.  She has hundreds of outstanding reviews.  Not bad for a little giraffe baby teether from France.

I’ll talk about her functionality below, but the biggest selling point for Sophie is that she is just so darned cute.  You can tell with one glance that Sophie has a sweet little personality.  Her wide-eyed innocence is set off by rosy pink cheeks and a pretty little grin.  She’s a toy you don’t mind being around when you take pictures of your children; she actually adds to the cuteness factor, as opposed to many of the garish plastic toys my toddler manages to drag into every picture. 

Sophie is a worthy investment.  Here are some of Sophie’s features:

• Sophie the Giraffe is created by Vulli, a French company.
• Sophie has a long, thin neck and angled legs.  This gives babies several different places to grab hold. 
• Sophie is a very lightweight giraffe and she is about 7 inches tall, making her the perfect size for a tot to tote. 
• Sophie’s body is white with dark brown spots, and she has large black eyes.  This pattern is interesting and visually stimulating to babies, grabbing their attention and keeping it. 
• Sophie is super-soft and contains a squeaker.  She is soft enough that babies can engage the squeaker, further entertaining them.
• Sophie also has some firmer areas, such as the nubs on her head,  that make her the perfect teething toy.  They are firm enough to provide some resistance against baby’s gum and give some comfort.
• Sophie is made of food paint and 100% natural rubber.  This means that she is very soft and safe for your baby to chew on, letting your baby soothe sore gums.
• Sophie the Giraffe is also Phthalates and BPA free.
• Sophie is not made in China, which is very comforting to parents given recent news stories and recalls due to the safety of toys made there.
