Big Top Donut - Review of the Giant As-Seen-On-TV Cake Pan

OK, folks – how fun is THIS? One of my favorite as-seen-on-TV products right now is the Big Top Donut. You can visit this site to see lots of pictures and reviews – Big Top Donut. This is one of those baking products that you can easily use over and over again and always have something unique to present to your family and friends!

Why do I think The Big Top Donut is such a neat product? First off, it’s such a fun, easy, and yummy way to present dessert for any family dinner, party, or gathering. A Big Top Donut is guaranteed to make people smile. They’re a great way to go against the expected at work lunches. They make a fun, unforgettable birthday cake for anyone. They’re also such a fun craft project for little ones – decorating a Big Top Donut is something that the whole family will enjoy. I can’t decide whether the most fun part of creating a Big Top Donut is decorating it or serving it.

Here’s how it works. Bascially, the Big Top Donut is a silicone cake mold that has two compartments. You pour batter into both compartments and bake it according to the instructions. After it’s finished, you trim each of the two pieces of cake to make them level so they will fit together nicely. Then, add a thin layer of icing, and invert the top…. and voila, you have a gigantic donut the size of a cake!

Decorating the Big Top Donut is so much fun – if you happen to have kids, they’ll definitely want to take part in this step. To give it an authentic “giant donut” feel, I like to think of my favorite flavors from the donut shop and try to replicate that appearance. Some of my favorite decorations include:

• Bright pink frosting with giant sprinkles – you’ll see in the image on the right that Wilton makes some jumbo sprinkles that will be proportionate to the size of your Big Top Donut.
• Chocolate-flavored icing sprinkled with chopped nuts or coconut
• A simple sugar glaze to imitate a cake donut
• Seasonal flavors, like white icing with giant gingerbread or Christmas tree sprinkles during the holidays – again, Wilton makes jumbo cake decorations that will serve this purpose.

I also think it’s cute to present the Big Top Donut with regular-sized donut holes of various flavors surrounding it; it accents the huge size of the donut and makes a great presentation for photos.

I’ve looked online and in several retail stores, and the Big Top Donut is currently the only quality donut-shaped cake pan on the market.
